Decoding RV Aluminum Siding Patterns

With so many different makes and models of RV’s and trailers, it can be daunting to figure out which pattern was used on YOUR specific coach.  To make matters worse, many manufacturers have gone out of business.  And unlike the automobile industry, aftermarket RV parts builders cannot cross reference by year, make, model or VIN number.

So, what if you need to replace a siding panel or more on your coach? You can start by reaching out to the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) if they are still in business and see if they can provide a pattern name.   If that is not a valid option, All-Rite has a pattern gallery that will allow you to view the multiple patterns we can custom roll form.  You can view it on our website at https://all-rite.com/patterns-gallery/.  If you need additional assistance, you can mail in a sample piece of your siding and All-Rite will determine your pattern and edge for a fee.

Once your pattern has been determined, how do you figure out how much metal you need to order?    When measuring metal with an edge, start from the roll of the edge (pittsburg, s-lock, etc) and measure to the opposite side and add the edge shrinkage to determine the “cut size” height.

Your measurements should always include enough metal to allow for edge shrinkage! Be sure to also allow for PATTERN shrinkage. Most common is an additional 1/4” per foot to cover any reduction in overall size due to roll forming.

If the metal is still on the coach when you measure, be sure to add for the metal that slips

into the piece above. Usually 1/2” is enough.  Measure the length of the piece as normal. We suggest adding a couple of inches to the length to allow for trimming.

Call All-Rite at 831-636-9566 to place your order or get assistance or discuss any questions.  In most cases, custom aluminum siding is shipped the next business day after the order is received.
